Whistleblower testimony results in first state to ban arsenic from poultry feed. Other states expected to follow

As of this month, arsenic is officially banned from poultry feed in the state of Maryland. It is still allowed in other states, even thought the dangers to the environment, food safety and the public health in general is growing. The practice of feeding arsenic to chickens has been around since the 1940’s to kill intenstinal parasites. However, arsenic became more important over time as a growth promoter. Poultry whistleblower Carol Morison used to be a contract farmer for Perdue and appeared in the documentary FOOD INC. . Scientists are finding that the levels of arsenic in food and in our drinking water is higher than expected and the drug is toxic to humans.
