The Department of Justice, on behalf of the Food and Drug Administration has filed a case against Sage Pharmaceuticals Inc, it’s President and Director of Corporate Quality for manufacturing and distributing unapproved drugs. The required FDA approval process is to make sure that drugs manufactured and distributed to consumers are safe and effective for their intended uses. The government says that Sage manufactures prescription pain relievers, over the counter cough and cold remedies and OTC wound cleansers without first obtaining the requisite FDA approvals. In addition to other penalties, the Department of Justice is seeking a permanent injunction requiring the company to stop all receiving, processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling and distributing activities until they comply with law. The company is located in Shreveport Louisiana. Jeffrey Newman represents whistleblowers.
